James Blunt is the perfect singer-song writer for the busybusybusy generation who don't have time to consider what a song might actually mean.

Given this constraint, the smartest, the sharpest title you can give to a songabout a woman being beautiful is surely "You're Beautiful". And why call any song that concerns the pain of saying goodbye to a lover anything over than "Goodbye My Lover"? From this prospective, it's hard to say why anyone would think this songwriting game is so difficult. It's quite straightforward.
Even a fucking monkey could do it.

The lyrics of "Goodbye My Lover" explores the crucifying angst of losing a woman who Blunt apparently pretty much considered the one. The song begins by questioning whether he failed his departed love. In the chorus, he repeatedly bids his lover farewell before revealing she was probably the only woman for him in the world. The second chorus then repeats the claim that she was his only hope, everything is ruined - and so on...
We're nearing the end now, but he still keeps going on about the nights when he thinks he can feel her hands blaahblaahblaah. It's like she's there. She's not though, as I hope everyone understands. At the song's climax, he brings out what we have already surmised: that his heart has been left empty and broken. To emphasize this point, he repeats it 6 times.

Don't make the mistake of thinking his life has any meaning. Because it hasn't. Okay? Selling lots of records in America, he's not bothered. I feel sorry for the poor guy - no wait, no I don't. But wouldn't you chuck him too? The moaning twat.
