Raito looked to Mello, trying to read the boyÂ’s eyes. Mello was cold, closed down, but his eyes were an open book. He looked tormented, guilty, knowing what had happened to Near was only a few feet away and he could do nothing. There was something else there, something Raito had seen only in the eyes of his father and mother.
