Pisa (pronounced / pisa /) is an Italian town of 87,000 inhabitants [1] of Tuscany and the capital of the province.

According to legend was founded by the mythical Trojan refugees from the homonymous Greek city of Pisa, a temple in the valley of the river Alpheus [2], in the Peloponnese.

Among the most important monuments of the city there is - in the famous Piazza del Duomo, World Heritage - the marble Cathedral built between 1063 and 1118, Pisan Romanesque style, with the bronze door of San Ranieri of Bonanno Pisano and the pulpit by Giovanni Pisano. Sports facilities.

Football

The Pisa Calcio (formerly Pisa Sporting Club) is the leading club of Pisa. One of the oldest Italian soccer teams, has 13 participations in the premier league, a league final (1921) and two Mitropa Cup won in 1986 and 1988. In the 2006/2007 season he played in Serie C1 and after finishing the round at the 3rd place, and have beaten in the play-offs in order, Venice and Monza, was promoted to Serie B.
