Vallitsevan tieteellisen näkemyksen mukaan ihminen on sokean sattuman muovailema atomikasa. Näin ollen ihmisen olemassaololla ei ole mitään päämäärää eikä tarkoitusta.

Monien johtavien tiedemiesten mukaan kaikki ihmisenkin aikaansaannokset ja saavutukset hajoavat koko maailmankaikkeuden mukana vähitellen joukoksi arvottomia hiukkasia. Ihmisen sattumanvaraisesta syntymästä seuraa myös, että yhteiskunnassa ei voi olla mitään ehdottomia pelisääntöjä: kaikki on täysin sallittua.
