Minä olen vain satama pieni
joka laivoja rakastaa
jossa aina öisin palaa
pari lyhtyä kalpeaa.
Minun luonani laivat ei viihdy,
olen pieni ja maineeton.
Pois suuria purjeita aina
meri kaunis kutsunut on.
Minä nytkin merelle katson.
Sydän itkeä melkein vois,
sillä syksyllä luotani lähti
tuo laiva ihana pois,
joka suurempi muita oli,
ja jota mä rakastin,
kun saapui se korkein keuloin
ja purjein ylpeilevin.
Sekin laiturit harmaat jätti.
Jäi veteen jäljet vain.
Minä kauan ja ikävöiden
sen valoja mereltä hain.
Tuli laivoja muita kyllä,
tuli soitossa musiikin
ja tuoksuvin hedelmälastein...
Minä niitäkin rakastin.
Mutta niitten lähtöä koskaan
en itkenyt niin kuin sen,
jonka jälkiä vieläkin öisin
sydän vavisten hyväilen,
kun lyhtyni himmeinä palaa
ja mereltä tulevat
vain lokit ja tuulten leyhkät
ja laineet sieluttomat.
