I grabbed a knife, and stuck it into the top of my pumpkin.

I could tell he was trying not to laugh.
“Well, almost. Like this.”
He closed his hand over mine, and showed me how to get started.
“Okay?” he asked in a low voice just over my shoulder. I turned to look at him, enjoying the light in his eye that I saw so rarely and how damn cute he was right now. Not that I’d ever tell him that; he’d probably be horrified to be “cute.” Still, nothing was stopping me from thinking it.
